Victorian hand jewellery has long held my fascination. Back in the day the objects held in these hands held special meanings, and sometimes signified the most secret of desires. A classic red rose signified sacrifice, immortal love, health and passion, and the web features a long legged spider reaching towards the petals perhaps yearning for love?
My fancy hand acrylic brooch uses tortoise-shell etched with a spider and web, holding a red marbled rose with laser etched detailing.
Caring for your acrylic jewellery
Acrylic is hard but can be brittle and scratch easily, so don't get too rowdy while wearing your jewellery and store it somewhere safe. Don't wear it in water and avoid spraying perfume or other liquids on it.
